Guido Pella vs Andrea Vavassori

ATP Cordoba, Argentina (Clay)

At the Australian Open last month, Guido Pella made his first appearance on the main tour since October 2021 after a lengthy absence. He was defeated handily by fellow countryman Francisco Cerundolo in the first round.

In Cordoba over the weekend, Andrea Vavassori made his South American clay swing debut. To secure a spot in the main draw, he defeated Andrea Pellegrino and Camilo Ugo Carabelli in spectacular fashion.

Pella, a once top-100 ranked player, is now languishing in 1018 place in the rankings, will find it difficult to make it past the 221-ranked Vavassori who will be high on confidence after his recent victories.

Prediction: Vavassori to win @ 1.60

Beatriz Haddad Maia vs Marie Bouzkova

Haddad Maia started 2023 in promising fashion with a quarterfinal finish in Adelaide. She then suffered a perplexing 7-6, 6-2 loss to world No. 75 Nuria Parrizas-Diaz in the opening round of the Australian Open; this was the first time she had lost to a top-100 opponent at a grand slam match since 2019 Wimbledon.

Marie Bouzkova finished the Australian swing with a record of 2-3, losing to Bianca Andreescu in the first round of the Australian Open and Anna Blinkova in the second round in Hobart. Even though she didn’t gain any points for her Wimbledon quarterfinal, she is in the top 30 after recording 42 victories across all competitions the season before.
