Hugo Dellien vs Jeffrey John Wolf
Time: 6:00 PM IST
Head-to-head: 0-0
Jeffrey John Wolf secured his inaugural victory on European clay at the recently concluded Rome Masters, emerging triumphant over Hugo Grenier in the opening round a few weeks ago. Building upon his success, he went on to upset Hubert Hurkacz, advancing to the third round of the tournament.
With the highly anticipated French Open just around the corner, the American tennis player has made the decision to devote more time to honing his skills on clay courts. In the previous season, he opted to remain in the United States, participating in Challenger events during this phase. However, due to his current position among the top 50 players in the ATP rankings, he has earned a direct entry into the main draw of the prestigious clay-court slam.
During his ATP Geneva debut campaign in 2019, Hugo Dellien achieved his sole quarterfinal appearance in ATP events outside of South America. Notably, he secured victories over Andreas Seppi and Janko Tipsarevic. Surprisingly, he did not participate in the subsequent editions of the tournament in both 2021 and 2022.
Unfortunately, the Bolivian player’s impressive performance on clay earlier in the season met an unexpected end in April when he suffered a devastating defeat, failing to win a single game against Cristian Garin in the first round of the ATP Houston. Since then, he has only played one match on the main tour, which he lost in straight sets to Roberto Carballes Baena during the Rome tournament.
Prediction: Back Dellien to win
